Hulu Releases PBS Programming: Fans go Wild

by Bart on Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Hulu is a video-streaming site. You can’t really compare it to YouTube, because it’s commercially-driven to provide TV/Movie/Documentary clips and shows. It’s becoming quite the popular site, and I had to make sure the students in the dorms couldn’t get to it, but…. For those of you on the “outside”….

As part of Hulu’s “Days of Summer” promotion where they release something new every day to keep people coming back…. They released a lot of PBS programming, including Carrier (a show about a USS Nimitz carrier ship), a design show, and three science shows which I’m going to have to watch… Nova (an example clip  is embedded below), Scientific American, and Wired Science.

Looking forward to learning some stuff. If you hear me rattling of scientific terms, you’ll know why..

Bloopers: Viral Hit

by Bart on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I’ve now heard back from dozens if not hundreds of people about the video I presented to the kids on VIP Day. Joel Hood and Tim Makcen recorded about 20 hours worth of video to make our 17 minute divisional video, and with some of the great bloopers that people made during recording, I didn’t want to let it all go to waste, and so I made up a gag reel, and they encouraged me to finish it up and show it at the banquet. We did, and it was a huge success!

I used a combination of Adobe After Effects for the title sequence, and Adobe Premier for everything else. Total editing time for the below clip was around 10 hours, and it was a much larger success than the divisional video, which only got average response.

Without further ado:

Accident (humor)

by Bart on Monday, March 10th, 2008

I was in a terrible accident today.

Before I knew it, there were firemen rescuing me with jaws of life pincers, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it out of that vehicle.

But I survived….

by Bart on Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Wow, this website is AMAZING!!! SO much music within easy grasp. This must mean the RIAA is hiding in the wings. This is one of those sites you have to enjoy till it goes away, which might be anytime soon, since 1.2+ MILLION songs are being freely hosted and broadcasted by this website. Too perfect to be permanent.

So I was hanging out with my close personal friend Albert the other day, and we discovered the world’s most beautiful equation. I snapped a picture so you could revel in our genius.
